Cynthia began her modeling career as a model New York. In a short time Cynthia signed a five-year contract to work with Wihelmina Models. It led to a hugely profitable book as well as a design for Essence Magazine. Cynthia's cover for Essence was not only one of their top-performing cover designs, but it was Susan Taylor's favorite. Cynthia was able to secure her second cover shortly thereafter and set the stage for a long-lasting career. Her next move was to Paris and Milan, in which she strutted through the runways of Paris as well as Milan Fashion Week. After having lived abroad for nearly an entire time, Cynthia returned to New York City and participated in high demand advertising advertisements with Maybelline, Oil of Olay and Macy's. Elle's, Essence's and Vanity Fair magazine editorials soon were followed. Cynthia had a career highlight in the year she was chosen ahead of Naomi Campbell as Sandra Bernhadt's co-star in "Without You I Am Nothing".
